One of the co-founders of Character Counts! in Glenview, Elinor Swiger, passed away March 7, 2015 at the age of 87.
“Each of us who has ever had an opportunity to interact with Elinor certainly recognized the sincere care and genuineness that she demonstrated to all of us and the richness that she contributed to our lives and to our community,” said Mark Walther, Character Counts! in Glenview co-chair. “She will be dearly missed.”
A long-time lawyer, author of six books, Mrs. Swiger was very active in the Glenview community. Along with co-founding Character Counts! in Glenview, she served two terms on the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board, two terms on the Village of Glenview’s Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and 10 years as chair of the Village’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
