2015 Writing Contest Winners

The Glenview Village Board of Trustees on April 21 recognized winners of the 18th annual CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview Writing Contest.

Students were asked to write an essay on one of two topics:

  • Which of the pillars of character do you value as the most important in helping you make the right choices?
  • Describe an incident or event from which you learned a lesson “the hard way.” How has this changed you or your life?

More than 1,500 entries were received from nine schools.

The winners were presented with awards provided by: Northview Bank & Trust, American Chartered Bank, Glenview Optimists Club and Image Specialties.

Sixth Grade

3rd place — Matthew Jachtorowycz, OLPH School

Seventh Grade

1st place — Maddie Licata, Maple School

2nd place — Haley Ferrone, Attea Middle School

3rd place — Katie Katranis, Maple School

Eighth Grade

1st place — Shea Graf, OLPH School

2nd place — Joshua Yang, Maple School

3rd place — Adam Alwan, Springman Middle School
