In conjunction with CHARACTER COUNTS! Week — October 15-21, 2017 — the 2017 annual CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview poster/video contest is underway. Glenview students have two choices:
- visually depict one or more of the Six Pillars of Character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship), or
- show how the Jackman Park Bear, which turns 100 this year, contributes to the character of Glenview. Use information from this website to help with this choice.
In two grade categories — kindergarten through 2nd and 3rd and 4th — students are asked to create 8 1/2-by-11 inch posters.
Students in 5th through 8th grades are asked to create videos of between one and two minutes. They will be judged in two categories: 5th and 6th grades and 7th and 8th grades.
Students in 5th through 8th grades can get information from their teachers on how to upload contest entries. Other Glenview students who wish to enter the video contest but do not have a school upload site should send an email to email@example.com to receive instructions for uploading entries into a Dropbox.
Deadline for the poster entries is Monday, September 25, 2017. Videos must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017.
First-, second- and third-place winners in each of the four categories will receive prize awards courtesy of Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook, to be presented at the October 17, 2017 Village Board of Trustees meeting.
