2013 Essay Contest Winners

ccessaywinners2013The Glenview Village Board April 16 recognized winners of the 16th annual Character Counts! in Glenview Essay Contest. Participants were asked to write in 350 words or less about a situation that showed a lack of character and how it could be improved with the use of one of the six pillars of character.

Entries were submitted by more than 750 Glenview fifth- through eighth-graders from six schools.

Sponsors were: Northview Bank and Trust, Glenview Optimist Club, Image Specialties and American Chartered Bank.

Winners were presented with medals and gift certificates.

Fifth Grade
1st place:  Julia Blazejewski, Willowbrook School
2nd place: Molly Saletta, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School
3rd place: Michael Hadjiivanov, Pleasant Ridge School

Sixth Grade
1st place:  Mari Fujiki, Maple School
2nd place: Malia Lim, St. Catherine Laboure School
3rd place: Hayden Beck, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School

Seventh Grade
1st place: Emily Garti, Maple School
2nd place: Lindsey Goldman, Maple School
3rd place: Dillon McDermott, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School

Eighth Grade
1st place: Jake Turk, Maple School
2nd place: Eric Carter, Maple School
3rd place: Caroline Walker, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School
